At the end of the night, your projects will begin the process of drying out. Once they are fully dried, they can begin the first kiln firing - once they are finished kiln firing #1 I can proceed to prep and glaze them, then put them into the kiln for firing #2! The process of both firings can take up to eight weeks.
You will be contacted by text or e-mail when your projects are ready for pick up!
Your finished mug will be microwave and dishwasher safe.
Welcome to DIY Mugs at Mabel Ceramics! Everyone will start off with a plain slab of clay, cut into the shape of my mug template. This ensures that everyone will end up with a nicely shaped mug that holds about 12oz once it is fully fired.
We have plenty of texture tools, letters and numbers, stamps, and other tools in the studio to customize your mug however you'd like! You can even bring your own tools to add textures, such as stamps, lace cloth, foraged greenery.. anything you can think of.
You will also be able to design the shape and fit of your handle so that it fits your hand perfectly.
At the end of the workshop you will choose one of the studio glazes for your mug to be finished with!
